Overview

SBM Management is looking for a UX Designer! As the UI/UX Designer, you’ll redesign applications used by Fortune 500 companies with a broad user base.  Your challenge will be to build world-class products and redefine ways to do business for the industry. You will work in a fast-paced, startup-like environment in our headquarters’ beautiful campus in Sacramento, CA. You will be responsible for creating visually striking, user-friendly, and engaging interfaces. This resource will work in a team environment to transform complex concepts into simple, elegant, and approachable experiences, services, and products. The successful candidate will work closely with Business Leaders, Graphic Designers, Software Engineers, and QA resources through the complete systems development life cycle. Candidates should have experience in all phases of user experience design: discovery (competitive research, analytics, & interviews, etc.), wireframe design, prototyping, user testing, interactive design & creative direction, QA & deployment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Defining and implementing design criteria, design guidelines, and design specs that demonstrate experience with industry standards/best practices and corporate visual design guidelines and strategies across desktop software, web, and mobile platforms
  • Brainstorm, revise and collaborate with an enthusiastic, visually-oriented team
  • Translate business needs into user experience solutions that meet the needs of a complex organization
  • Conduct effective research, including competitive analysis, user and stakeholder interviews, analytics assessment, and heuristic analysis
  • Creating storyboards, process flows, wireframes, mockups, and experience prototypes to guide development
  • Develop production-ready, cross-browser front-end code using HTML5/CSS3
  • Iterate designs based on user feedback research, technology constraints, and market dynamics
  • Collaborating with other virtual team members

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience designing web applications in a creative/R&D environment
  • Specific experience with UX research, interaction and mobile design, prototyping tools and responsive web frameworks
  • A strong desire to create the best web applications and the ability to create them
  • The urge to execute the best solution and push it to the next level
  • Experience with user research and a strong empathy for the end users
  • Ability to provide evidence to back up each of your solutions
  • No fear of telling the truth; know when to push back and say no
  • Ability to work in disciplines of IA, strategy, and interaction design, as well as collaborate across disciplines with developers, QAs and managers
  • Ability to communicate your ideas, both visually and verbally
  • An inquisitive mind with great intellectual curiosity
  • A deep appreciation of craftsmanship and an exceptional eye for detail
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Design, Cognitive Science, or other related disciplines
  • An excellent portfolio to present all of above
  • Ability to read, write, copy and paste HTML, CSS and JavaScript
