  • Overview

    SBM Management is looking to hire a Benefits Accountant to join their team!  This position is responsible for appling principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the following duties.

    Responsibilities

    • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts and documenting business transactions.
    • Distributes expenditures and encumbrances according to schedules.
    • Performs statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes, and writes narrative reports explaining findings.
    • Analyzes financial information detailing liabilities, and capital, prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected department financial position for other departments.
    • Audits contracts, orders, and vouchers/check requests, and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions.
    • Determines proper handling of financial transactions and establishes internal controls within designated limits.
    • Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
    • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
    • Makes recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.
    • Conducts studies and submits recommendations for improving the departments accounting operations.
    • Collects appropriate data and submits information to be used in the preparation of federal, state, and local reports and tax returns.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university with business emphasis; or one to two years related accounting experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • May be required to have a valid driver’s license.
    • Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple departments.
    • Must be organized and can manage multiple projects and respect deadlines.
    • Ability to speak effectively before leadership teams.
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 
    • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
    • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. 
    • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    Available Shift:  Full Time
