The InSite software division is a separate SBM business entity that is chartered with the design, development and support of the company’s technology used by its massive work force and independent clients.  We are building the next generation service provider platform targeting facilities management.  Our platform gives service providers the tools necessary to deliver world class services, with empowered associates on top of standardized processes.  The InSite team is tasked with developing cutting edge web and mobile applications that differentiate SBM from its competitors.  We value our work force as much as we do our customers which is why we have made this large investment in technology.

 

The InSite UX/UI Designer is responsible for how our web and mobile applications feel to the users as well as how the flow of the functionality is defined.  The InSite web application is our primary interface for accessing our system for PC, tablet and mobile web devices.  The web application is a complex tool that is the basis for how SBM empowers its’ workforce and manage its customers.  The web application consists of 9 primary modules that allows us to manage such things as contract setup, on-line learning / knowledge center, financials and safety to name a few.  The web application suite allows in-depth, complex analysis for senior and executive management so they can effectively run the company.  The mobile application supports the hourly workforce by taking much of the functionality of our web application and presenting it in a native Java application for Android phones.

 

We are seeking an individual who is a blend of both UX and UI.  This means you must have a strong eye for clean, artful, welcoming design and be able to translate high-level requirements into logical flows for our users.  The challenge will be to create flows and designs that are simple and intuitive to use for a user base who is not particularly tech savvy.  The UX/UI Designer will be collaborating with product management and engineering to help define product direction, design visuals that support that support that initiative and thus create an innovative user experience.

Responsibilities

  • Expert skills in creating wireframes, storyboards, process flows, user flows and site maps.
  • Strongly skilled at presenting designs and selling your solutions. You must be comfortable with presenting and defending your designs.
  • Work with the product management group to efficiently and accurately gather requirements and turn them into thoughtful designs that can be seamlessly passed to engineering team for development. Designers will own the entire lifecycle of their work from requirements to implementation to deployment to incremental improvements.
  • Expert capabilities with design tools such as InVision, Adobe Comp, Photoshop, Sketch and Principle.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS and JavaScript for rapid prototyping.
  • Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices, etc.
  • Help create a cohesive style guide and maintain consistent visual elements.
  • Ability to drive consistent design between site and mobile applications.
  • Be driven to have a deep understanding of what you and your teammates are working on, why it is important and how you fit in to accomplishes the business goals.
  • Superior communication skills. Whether it’s written, verbal, formal presentation or informal hallway talks, the successful candidate will be a superstar.  Concise, honest and accurate techniques are a must. 
  • You must have the courage to give your team, peers and managers constructive feedback. Feedback given correctly and received correctly is a gift.
  • Be a great problem solver. The right candidate must be constantly looking for issues and solving them effectively.  Issues can range from people to tech to business.  If you don’t enjoy problem solving, this is not the right job for you.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphics design, fine arts or relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of design experience, preferably much of your experience has been with large enterprise SaaS focused companies.
  • 2+ years of experience designing mobile applications for Android platform.
  • Strong technical background.
  • Understanding of HTML, CSS and front-end development.
  • Experience being successful in a startup environment is a plus.
  • Experience as a software developer is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional groups to accomplish goals.
  • Be a mature full formed adult in your interactions with people. Conduct yourself with respect for others but drive results.
